WHAT WILL MATTER

BOOKING YOUR CEREMONY

Once you've chosen the date and time for your wedding, it is important to contact me as soon as possible to determine my availability.  If I am not available, I refer all prospective couples to one of my associates.  All co-officiants have been carefully vetted and all policies and procedures are followed.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Due to the fact that we maintain a strict schedule and have encountered an increasing number of couples who believe a late arrival to be "fashionable," we are forced to institute the following policy:  We will not wait longer than 1/2 hour after the scheduled time to perform any ceremony.  If the scheduled ceremony does not start within that time period, we will be compelled to leave without performing the ceremony and all fees will be forfeited.

Note:  We reserve the right to substitute officiants in the event of medical emergency or any unforeseen issue that may prevent Deb or Robin from fulfilling this role.

The following questions will need to be answered in order for a ceremony to be prepared that best reflects the wishes of the couple to be married:

  • Date of the wedding.
  • Place where ceremony is to take place (if you are planning an outdoor wedding a 'Plan B' is advisable in the event of unsuitable weather)
  • Time of ceremony.
  • First names (formal or informal) of the parties as they wish to be referred to in their ceremony.
  • Contact phone numbers and email for each party.
  • Names of designated (2) witnesses (18 years or older) to sign marriage license;  no ID required to be shown at time of completion of license.  Marriage licenses will be completed by the witnesses and officiant PRIOR to the ceremony.
  • Whether either party will be changing their last name (a personal decision not required by law)
  • How you wish to be presented at conclusion of ceremony;  example, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" even if there is no name change planned.
  • How long have you been together?
  • Prior to the start of the ceremony, do you wish your guests to be asked to refrain from the use of cell phones or cameras during the ceremony?
  • Whether either party has any objection to the reference to God in their ceremony.
  • Whether a blessing on the marriage is to be included.
  • Whether it will be a single ring (meaning only 1 is given a ring) or double-ring ceremony (where each receives a ring) and the metal content of the ring(s).
  • Please choose vows that reflect your relationship.  (refer to our section on Sample Vows)  You may each choose different vows if you desire. You may also edit or combine our Sample Vows or write your own vows.  Once provided to the officiant, custom vows will be made available in an easy-to-read font to be handed to the bride and groom at the appropriate time.
  • Whether the parties wish to include any readings by others;  the nature of the reading and name of reader must be provided so that it can be placed in the appropriate part of the ceremony;  readers will also be handed a copy of this in an easy-to-read font when called to come forward
  • Have you started your license process?  See our tab "LICENSE APPLICATION"
  • Favorite colors of each party for the sand ceremony, if so desired (most appropriate for beach weddings)
Note:  A sand ceremony is a symbolic ritual, combining 2 seperate vials of sand (one representing each partner) into a 3rd heart-shaped vessel, to illustrate the joining of two in marriage.  All materials for this are provided by the officiant.  Choose from the following colors: beige, brown, gray, burgundy, teal, coral, lavender, sky blue, black, green, white, royal blue, yellow, lime, orange, purple, pink or red.  See colors of sand below.
  • How did you hear about our services?

CONFIRMATION:
In order to eliminate any possibility of confusion or "mixed signals" it is imperative that all wedding ceremonies be confirmed 48 hours prior to the date and time scheduled.  Such confirmation serves not only to alleviate some of the premaritial jitters often felt by the participants, but also serves to confirm any last-minute changes to the ceremony.
